The East Cleveland Villages Big Local is a 10 year funding programme that has now been operational for 4+ years and throughout this time the programme has provided grant funding for specific projects within the 11 villages of Big Local.

The Funders, Local Trust, require the Partnership to review their Action Plan that will take them to the end of the 10 year programme.  This review will consider the priorities of East Cleveland Villages Big Local area and the funding required to deliver these priorities.  The Partnership has therefore made the decision to place a moratorium on all grant applications until this review is complete.

It is anticipated that this will be completed by early Autumn 2019.

We ran our 2^nd Tees Valley Village Halls and Community Venue Conference at Middleton St George Community Centre, Darlington on 24^th January 2019 to celebrate #VillageHallsWeek.

We are proud to support the volunteers running community buildings in the Tees Valley. Without their dedication, skill and expertise these facilities would close down and be lost forever.

On the day of the conference we celebrated the diversity of these community buildings, shared experiences from those involved ‘on the ground’ and applauded the volunteers at the heart of these local enterprises.  We provided a range of speakers, networking opportunities along with a hot buffet provided by Cafe Create, Age UK North Yorkshire and Darlington.

Congratulations goes to Ingleby Barwick Village Hall, Rita Lawson, Chief Executive, TVRA and Martyn Ingram, Norris and Fisher Insurance Brokers Ltd  presented Pauline Stainthorpe, John Myers, and Tim Wilson from Ingleby Barwick Village Hall their well deserved Hallmark Level 1 and Level 2 certificates at our annual conference. It is always encouraging to be able to recognise the hard work and dedication of all those involved.  Not least a big thank you to the Peer Visitors Hugh Jackson and Brian Wake from the Tees Valley Halls Network.

Hallmark Accreditation – Could this be Your Hall?

We have teamed up with the fantastic guys from Teesside LGV Training to be able to offer all our volunteer drivers both MiDAS Mini Bus and Passenger Assist Training. This ensures all our drivers meet a very high standard.  We have such a fantastic team of experienced drivers who bring a wealth of knowledge to our training sessions, that each session is fun and informative. Thanks to John from Teesside LGV who keeps us all on track.

TVRA is delighted to report that we have been successful in receiving a grant from Awards for All, The National Lottery Fund to support our work with village halls and community buildings in the rural areas of the Tees Valley.

Throughout 2019 TVRA will be working closely with the management committees of village halls and community buildings across the rural areas of the Tees Valley to develop a village hall resource register and information file.   This will be launched at our Village Hall Conference in January 2020 to coincide with #villagehallsweek.  We believe that this will bring many more people together, strengthening relationships across our rural communities, developing skills and a knowledge base within our rural areas which will enable more people to fulfil their potential by working to address issues at the earliest possible stage.
